Teacher Nomination: Sophia is a Wintu Native American from the Redding area, born and raised. She is an exceptionally bright and resilient 10-year-old, growing up as the youngest of three, alongside her two teenage siblings, with a dedicated single father. Over the past few years working with them, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible strength and perseverance of this family as they navigated significant hardship. Through every challenge, her father has shown unwavering love and commitment to providing a supportive, stable environment for his children. Playing on a sports team would be a transformative opportunity for Sophia. It would give her a place to build confidence, build strong friendships, and thrive in a positive group environment.
